The Problem:
The 2016 BGLC Annual Report was an emergency scenario where the initial draft of the Annual Report was demanded to be submitted within 3 weeks by the Minister of Finance. I was tasked with swiftly designing the book that would be intended for digital and print redistribution for the Betting, Gaming, and Lotteries Commission stakeholders. This was very imperative as the Commission needed to submit its Annual Report for the Finance Minister to accurately plan the fiscal budget for the year.
The 2017 Annual Report was ap[proached with a sense of commitment focused on proving that with enough time we would provide a product that is among the best.
The Process:
The first hurdle was for the Communications Director to gather all the necessary data and findings from all the other Division leaders. After that is done, she would need to turn that data into information that is comprehensive and concise. She would draft up the tables and copy while I focused on the overall design theme and visual identity. I would then be tasked with putting all the information together (data visualization, graphs, tables, images, graphics, styling, layout, icons, typography, etc.). The tabulation of the data and creating the visual were the most time-consuming parts of the project in both cases, which is why getting the data in a good time before the deadline was imperative.
The Results:
The 2016 Annual Report was received well, as it was the first time they issued an Annual Report that was stylized for the stakeholders to see the value of the brand and its contribution to servicing the Jamaican people. While the 2017 Annual Report was well received by all parties involved, internal and external, it even made the top 3 in the 2018 Annual Report Communications Competition. We were very pleased with the project's execution.
